Rural Mental Health Outreach Program (Process Evaluation)
Through a regional mental health initiative targeting rural adults with serious mental illness, EGS conducted a process evaluation focused on access, engagement, and service equity. We tracked outreach metrics, demographic disparities, and referral pathways to help the implementation team refine and adapt their model in real time.
Adolescent and Young Adult Substance Use Treatment (Summative and Outcome Evaluation)
Across a five-year SAMHSA-funded outpatient treatment program, EGS assessed engagement, retention, and clinical outcomes among youth and young adults with co-occurring disorders. We achieved a 96.2% 3-month and 81.3% 6-month follow-up rate—well above national benchmarks, allowing for confident interpretation of longitudinal impacts.
Drug Treatment Court Evaluation (Qualitative Case Study Approach)
EGS partnered with a mid-Atlantic Family Treatment Drug Court to evaluate barriers to enrollment and participant progression. Using qualitative interviews and courtroom observation, we uncovered environmental and relational barriers that affected engagement. Our findings led to procedural changes, including a redesign of courtroom seating to promote therapeutic alliance, which were implemented by the presiding judge within weeks.
Peer Recovery Specialist Workforce Development (Formative Evaluation)
As part of a workforce expansion initiative, EGS conducted a formative evaluation to support the integration of peer recovery specialists into behavioral health settings. Using interviews, readiness tools, and systems mapping, we guided local agencies in developing hiring, supervision, and cross-agency collaboration plans tailored to their unique needs.
